IS HERE!! And with that comes the holiday chaos, joy, stress, depression,
obsession and everything in between.
So who is
ready to make 2023 Holidays MAGICAL? If you said yes, then read on....
Here are my
TOP tips and Strategies to make the most of the upcoming Holidays.
My motto in life? I am here to ENJOY, Have FUN, Stay
SAFE and Keep on achieving goal after goal for myself and my autism kids.
Strategy 1: Do the Holiday Prep list and use my 3
Point Evaluation system- Prioritise-Delegate-Delete
So, First thing first, you need to decide what
your plans are gonna look like.
What are your goals? Have relaxed fun? Going to
parties that you really WANT and not feel pressured to turn up to?
Do you want to stay on track of a healthy diet for
your fam esp your autism kid(s)? Decide based on these lenses. And you might do
well to aim for a maximum of 3-5 parties. That way, you are not overbooking
yourself to the point that you need a vacation to get over your vacation!!
Once you are CLEAR what YOU WANT (no one else gets to
decide girl, ONLY YOU!!) then it is time to PRIRITISE.
So by that, you will need to prioritise friends and
family gatherings that NOURISH you. Doesn't make you feel like a loser
"special needs mom or mom to a retard". I know even family members
could be really harsh in their acknowledgement of our kid!!
Once you are done PRIRITISING, its time for
DELEGATING.
By that, you might want to host a couple of the
parties and make others offer help with some. You might do some shopping and
give some tasks to hubby. You can shop online and get it delivered to your home
to avoid the messy and overpopulated (read highly sensory overloaded place for
your autism bub) shopping malls.
Do delegate anything and EVERYTHING that you can
delegate. Delegation is done easily when you add specific INSTRUCTIONS. The art
of delegation is nuanced. The more step-by-step guide books you have on how you
do things to your liking, and hand that list to someone. They are happy to
follow through, and you get your stuff done and checked from your TO DO.
The 3rd step is DELETE. My, my, I am sure you came up
with a bunch of BS at the sight of delete. "But I need to do
EVERYTHING". I get it. You wanna prove you are a diva, a queen and a CEO
that is a supermum, super CEO, super everything....
When you want to do everything, you can't do anything.
When you please everybody, you please nobody.
Read them 3x over and let it sink. Delete, DELETE any
friends, conversation, groups, activities, parties, food, lifestyle
....anything that doesn't bring joy and move you steps closer to your goal.
