Creating Boundaries As a People Pleasing Autism Mum: What I learned from my Life Threatening Allergy Attack & How It Helped Me Find True Purpose & Serenity.

I have been through hell and back. A sudden onslaught of rashes in my ears turned slowly all over my body with a vengeance that felt like 100 mother-in-laws scorned!! Lol. In hindsight, although I am joking but trust me if I wasn’t a hijabi woman I would have shown you what it did to my body. Then you would have turned inside out.

 

Gory details aside these 17 days of being in constant 24 x 7 agony has forced me to finally go on a deep investigation:

What am I doing wrong in my life and work that is creating this havoc in my body? How am I literally torturing my mind and soul that the body had to erupt in response?

 

I found my way in through deep work, some of which I am going to share with you today. This will give you a lens through which you will be able to identify “problems” and give you a framework through which to “solve them”.

 

You ready? You will need a journal, pens, a relaxed sitting area and no distractions. You need to give yourself permission to find the answers.

 

STEP 1: ARE YOU HAPPY? SCORE EACH AREA OF YOUR LIFE

Our life in simplest term can be divided into these 7 segments:

·       Physical Health,

·       Self-care (emotional & mental health),

·       Children & Family,

·       Spirituality,

·       Work/ Career,

·       Wealth & Finance

·       Community & Friends.

On a scale of 1-10 how satisfied are you with each sector?

If it’s below 8 you gotta work on it. Pronto!! Depending on how low they are and how urgent it is for you to start and resolve you can choose each sector and work through them.

GOLDEN TIP: Please DO NOT under any circumstances work on more than 2 areas in any given day. Overwhelming yourself will keep you stuck and confused and frozen. Elsa might look cool but that state of shock isn’t doing anyone a favour.

 

STEP 2: CHOOSE 1-2 SEGMENTS TO WORK ON AND CREATE A PLAN.

So back to the allergy drama, this upon close inspection happened because I was burnt out beyond salvation!! Which wreaked havoc on my system so much that a small test of a cheap product started a flare up which blew out all proportions. So my root cause was OVERWHELMED STATE FROM the current aspects of my coaching practice.

 

So I had to start there. I had to painstakingly sieve through all the things I was doing, identifying what needs delegating, what needs deleting, and which parts am I to prioritize. If you are an ASA OG you know from some of my early articles where I spoke about the art of….Prioritizing- Delegating & Deleting! I am bringing those beauties back.

 

So what Can YOU DO?

 

Does your morning and night all melts into a big pile of exhaustion which stems to …..your autism child’s struggle and delays and disabilities?

 

What is needed by his body and brain to recover and grow? Gut health-Nutrition-Support etc RIGHT? So next question…How Can you provide them? Budgeting, learning what to buy, cook, feed? Overcoming Pickyeating? Supplementing? Getting a step by step guide where a professional takes the majority of the burden and gives you a simple, structured guideline which you then follow consistently?

Yes to all then your next step is to find resources and persons from whom to get these supports. You get the drill. It is all about identifying the stressor, finding the ROOT CAUSE of that and then devising a plan to overcome that and reach your goals.

 

STEP 3: BRING IN SUPPORT, RESOURCES AND A WINNING MINDSET

From the point above, I sat with myself, got some coaching from big biz coaches and formulated my own way I am going to structure my business that will work along with the core needs of mine. Freedom, Safety and Impact. Then I created workflows, future plans for myself, my team and my community. You can’t do it alone unless you want to burn down in ashes. Your child has no use of your ashes. He would rather have the complete banana that you are.

 

What can YOU do now to see the results for the 2 segments you picked? Always remember, whatever happens your health needs to be the number 1 thing as a strong foundation then only you can do EVERYTHING in that master doc you prepared. That’s why I put health tab first.

 

Chunk down and simplify to amplify. Your brain will tell you that you need a complicated protocol, a group of therapists and doctors and supplements etc the bells and whistles….thats what we call “SHINY OBJECT SYNDROME”. It is actually a simple plan that you can execute with excellence and do that consistently that will help you reach success in each and every aspect of what you.

 

Simple well executed plan don’t sound sexy but they give success. I will leave you with my own moto: “Persevere such that your weakness becomes your strength and your strength becomes your superpower”.
